Grab your dirndl and your dachshund! Oktoberfest at the District Wharf returns on October 3, 2026, for a free afternoon of Bavarian fun along the DC waterfront!
The star of the show is the 14th Annual Wiener 500 Dachshund Dash, but there’s plenty more to celebrate. Here’s what’s happening:
- Wiener 500 Dachshund Dash
Cheer on DC’s speediest dachshunds as they race for fame and fortune on District Pier. Spectators watch for free, and there’s even an Adoptable Dog Parade between races. - Best Dressed Contest
Break out the dirndl, lederhosen, or favorite Oktoberfest gear — special prizes go to the best-dressed attendee. - Stein Hoisting Championship
During the week leading up to Oktoberfest, participating Wharf restaurants host the Wharf-Wide Sam Adams Oktoberfest stein hoisting contest. Winners from each restaurant advance to the championship on District Pier on October 3, 2026.
Pets are welcome in outdoor spaces throughout the District Wharf — water and splash pools will be available for four-legged guests.
