Trade an ordinary night at home for an unforgettable overnight museum adventure! Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History is excited to offer a special Halloween-edition sleepover on October 30, 2026!
This after-hours experience takes kids (ages 8-14 w/ their 21+ chaperone) on a cross-country road trip through the museum’s galleries. Known for telling the nation’s story through iconic objects people instantly recognize, the museum packs 3 floors with treasures — from the Star-Spangled Banner and the First Ladies’ gowns to Dorothy’s ruby slippers and Julia Child’s kitchen.
Kids (costume-wearing encouraged!) will play I-Spy and the license plate game, explore the museum’s new exhibit Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, become a presidential candidate, and more!
