The National Botanic Garden

By DullesMoms, May 2023

You might have heard of the US Botanic Garden on the National Mall, minutes from the Capitol, but have you heard of the National Botanic Garden in Chantilly, VA?

Dedicated to connecting adults and children to nature, this preserve is made from predominantly reclaimed materials. From the east coast’s largest Xeric garden to lakes galore, this natural oasis tucked in southern Loudoun County will delight guests of all ages:

Water
The National Botanic Garden boasts lakes galore! The lakes, with more than 50 islands and 5 miles of shores, support a variety of fish and birds.

Bamboo Garden
At the National Botanic Garden, see the United States’ largest bamboo garden. Discover a 50-island maze at the lake and see groves, one surrounding a man-made rock waterfall.

Xeric Garden
The National Botanic Garden is home to the east coast’s largest Xeric garden. Xeric plants are adapted to dry conditions and require little to no water during the growing season.

Sculptures
The lush garden is also home to a variety of outdoor sculptures made of recycled materials such as steel and wood.

Visit the National Botanic Garden for one of their upcoming events or during a monthly scheduled opening.
