Indoor Play Fun › National Children’s Museum
The National Children’s Museum sparks curiosity and creativity in the littlest of learners! This playful indoor family destination offers a wide range of interactive activities, exhibits, and experiences centered on science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Join them today for all they have to offer, including The Pigeon Comes to Washington, DC! A Mo Willems Exhibit — a limited-time opportunity available from January 17-May 10, 2026:
Step into the whimsical world of Mo Willems and his cast of lovable characters as the Visiting Exhibit Hall transforms into a laugh-filled, imagination-powered experience. From a phone booth that lets visitors sound like Piggie, to a catapult launching hot dogs at The Pigeon, to a fashion runway made just for the Naked Mole Rat, this playful exhibit brings beloved stories to life through hands-on fun.
Young visitors are invited to create art inspired by Mo Willems, explore emotions through storytelling, and discover what it means to be a good friend, express themselves, and navigate the hilarious challenges of growing up. Designed for learners ages 2 to 10 and their families, the exhibit blends creativity, social-emotional learning, and plenty of giggles — all included with Museum admission.
The Visiting Exhibit Hall continues to showcase some of the world’s most innovative and engaging traveling exhibits, ensuring the Museum experience stays fresh, relevant, and endlessly engaging for children and families alike.
Enjoy the museum’s permanent features, too. No matter if it’s your child’s first visit or their tenth, there’s plenty of fun to be had:
