If you’ve ever driven over the Bay Bridge, spied a beach along the northwestern shore of the Chesapeake Bay, and thought it looked fun — we agree!
Sandy Point State Park, a 786-acre Maryland destination, is a natural treasure offering sandy beaches perfect for swimming, castle building, and picnics! If the beach isn’t your thing, there are also plenty of nature trails worth exploring, offering breathtaking vistas of the bay.
For your safety, lifeguards are on duty during select times from Memorial Day through Labor Day. At other times, swimming is at your own risk; designated swim areas are enforced.
After a hike, be sure to stop by the Sandy Point Nature Center, located inside the park at South Beach Plaza. You’ll find an aquarium, hands-on activities, interpretive programs, and fun seasonal events. Next to the nature center, there’s a playground, too!
Important! Reservations are now required to visit Sandy Point on weekends and holidays during the peak season (from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day). No same-day drive-up entry is allowed on those busy days without a reservation.
