SPORTS


Cheer Camp • Ages 7-12
Go, Team Go! A fun and exciting week for beginner to intermediate-level cheerleaders to improve their current skills while adding new techniques to their repertoire. Each week focuses on the fundamentals of cheer and dance while promoting teamwork, determination, and self-confidence. Cheerleaders will learn a dance routine, jumps, flexibility, and more, incorporating all the skills they have learned into a final performance on Friday.

Gymnastics Camp • Ages 6-9
This full-day camp is designed to provide campers with gymnastics and movement activities, beginning each day with a warm-up. Campers practice all artistic gymnastics women’s and men’s events, as well as trampoline and foam pit exercises. They also participate in crafts, games, and outdoor activities, including a water day. Campers should bring a daily snack, water, and lunch.

Baseball: Advanced Infield/Hit • Ages 10-14
This camp is designed for experienced players who want to refine their skills. Players are grouped by age and skill level and receive instruction on the finer points of the game. The camp includes extensive repetitions in small groups with personalized feedback. Fun mini-competitions are held throughout the week. Instruction is provided by high school coaches and college players. Campers should bring a glove, batting helmet, bat, and water bottle. Players staying for the Pitcher/Catcher camp should also bring lunch. Camps are held Monday through Thursday.

Baseball: Advanced Pitcher/Catcher • Ages 10-14
This camp is for pitchers and catchers seeking to improve their skills. Pitchers receive individualized instruction on proper movement patterns, pitch grips, and strength and flexibility training. Catchers focus on proper stances, receiving, blocking, and throwing techniques. High school coaches and college players provide instruction. Pitchers should bring a glove and water bottle, while catchers must bring their own catching gear. Camps are held Monday through Thursday.

Baseball: Advanced Game Camp • Ages 12-15
This fast-paced game camp offers players up to 40 at-bats during the four-day session. Participants are divided into teams, playing live coach-pitch games on a 90-foot diamond. Players gain game-speed experience in fielding, base running, and batting. Statistics are tracked throughout the week, with awards presented to the most valuable player and hitting champion. High school coaches and college players provide instruction. Campers should bring a bat, glove, batting helmet, and water bottle. Catchers should bring their own gear. Camps are held Monday through Thursday.

Baseball: Beginners Camp • Ages 5-6
This camp focuses on fun skill development, including hitting, base running, fielding, throwing, and catching. Emphasizing group interaction, cooperation, and team play, each day features well-structured learning experiences and games. The curriculum provides plenty of repetitions with T-ball and coach-pitch scrimmage games held daily. Campers should bring a water bottle, snack, batting helmet, glove, and bat.

Basketball & Flag Football Camp • Ages 7-14
This fun camp focuses on developing fundamentals and skills in both basketball and football. Campers participate in drills, contests, and daily games in each sport. The week concludes with Championship Friday.

Hogwarts Science Camp • Ages 6-12
Step into the magical world of Hogwarts Science Camp, where magic and science intertwine in an exhilarating adventure. Young wizards blend alchemy and science, crafting potions from everyday ingredients while exploring reactions, measurements, and transformations through hands-on experiments.

Campers explore Rube Goldberg machines by building complex contraptions to complete simple tasks like ringing a bell. The program encourages understanding mechanical concepts in a fun and imaginative way.

From making lip balms to bath bombs, this camp highlights the role of cosmetic chemists in the S.T.E.A.M. field.

Campers build buildings and robotics using straws, motors, and micro:bits. They use Strawbees — straws with unique connectors — to tinker and build creations. Campers automate their projects with motors and a mini-computer called a micro:bit, engaging them in creative engineering and robotics.

This introductory Python class teaches campers how to build a drawing application and create works of art. Earth Investigators • Ages 8-9
Campers become scientists as they explore Glencarlyn Park, learning about the atmosphere, local watersheds, soils, and wildlife. The program includes hands-on investigations, nature hikes, arts and crafts, and opportunities to meet nature center animals, all while discovering the environment. Campers should bring a change of clothes and shoes each day. This program is best suited for rising third and fourth graders.

Chess Camp • Ages 6-12
Campers play and learn chess with Silver Knights (formerly Magnus Chess Academy). The program has taught 100,000 children, including national champions, though most students are beginners seeking to learn and have fun. Campers are grouped by skill level. Chess lessons and games occur throughout the day, with recess breaks.

Teen Chess Camp • Ages 12-17
Teen Chess Camp, hosted by Silver Knights (formerly Magnus Chess Academy), is designed for middle and high school students who want to learn and play chess with peers. Big Fish Camp takes participants offsite to learn fishing fundamentals and advanced techniques such as targeting specific species, reading water conditions, and practicing navigation safety. Young Anglers • Ages 7-10
Fish & Explore takes campers to lakes, rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay to catch fish, learn water safety and nature awareness, and explore fresh and saltwater fishing basics, including casting, rigging, knot tying, selecting tackle and lures, and identifying fish. Campers wear life jackets when in the water or on a boat. All gear, including bait, tackle, rods, reels, and life jackets, is supplied.
