Author Joan Waites will lead The Day Artists Storytime on October 3, 2026, at Scrawl Books.

A delightful companion to The Night Artists, this creative nonfiction picture book presents birds, insects, and animals as artists in an enchanting show. The robin is the maestro, and wrens, blue jays, cardinals, bumblebees, katydids, and others join together to create beautiful harmony.

Joan Waites is an award-winning author-illustrator of numerous titles for children. A former adjunct faculty member of the Corcoran Museum School of Art and Design’s aspiring artists programs, she continues to teach art enrichment for children and adults. She lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
